The cannon pictured above was used during the attempt to subdue Chief Joseph and the Nez Perce during their retreat to Canada. It can be seen at the MUSEUM OF THE UPPER MISSOURI which displays artifacts and tells the early history of the upper river and Fort Benton, Montana’s most historic city.
